Dr B. L. V. Prasad

B. L. V. Prasad obtained his M.Sc. (Chemistry) in 1991 and Ph.D.(Chemistry) in 1997 from University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad. For his PhD he worked on molecule based magnetic materials and theoretical understanding of spin coupling in conjugated and non-conjugated organic radicals. His initiation into nanoparticle based research was during the two post-doctoral stints; one at Tokyo Institute of Technology (2 years JSPS fellowship and 1 year Research Associate ship) and second at Kansas State University (2.5 years -NASA sponsored project). While his TITECH work was on nanographite and its intercalation compounds, his work at KSU was focused on metal based nanoparticles especially their size and shape control. Currently at NCL his group is working on novel methods to prepare metal nanoparticles, their core-shell analogues and issues related to their phase transfer protocols. His group is also interested in the areas of Bio-nano conjugates and their applications and Surface funcationalization of nanoparticles.
